Alicia Silverstone Returns as Cher in New Clueless Sequel Series Coming to Peacock

Get ready to totally as if! Alicia Silverstone is stepping back into her iconic plaid skirt and knee-high socks—Cher Horowitz is officially making a comeback.

Peacock has announced a new Clueless sequel series is in development, and yes, Alicia Silverstone will reprise her role as the ultimate Beverly Hills fashionista. Not only will she star in the series, but she’ll also serve as executive producer, teaming up once again with Clueless director and original creator, Amy Heckerling.

This upcoming series picks up 30 years after the events of the beloved 1995 teen comedy classic. While exact plot details are still under wraps, fans can expect a fresh spin on Cher’s life as an adult—possibly now navigating marriage, motherhood, or maybe just the chaos of modern L.A. life with her signature sass.

The creative team behind the reboot is packed with heavy hitters. Josh Schwartz and Stephanie Savage—known for hits like Gossip Girl, The O.C., and Chuck—are co-writing the series along with Dollface creator Jordan Weiss. With that kind of track record, this reboot is shaping up to be anything but a Monet.

Clueless originally charmed audiences as a sharp, hilarious modernization of Jane Austen’s Emma. It introduced us to Cher’s perfectly accessorized world, her loving but no-nonsense dad (played by Dan Hedaya), her crush-worthy former stepbrother Josh (Paul Rudd), and her stylish best friend Dionne (Stacey Dash). The film has become a cult classic, launching careers and influencing fashion for decades.

This isn’t the first attempt to bring Clueless back to the screen. A reboot centered on Dionne was in the works in 2019 but was ultimately shelved by 2021. There was also a ’90s TV spin-off that ran for three seasons, though Silverstone was replaced by actress Rachel Blanchard.

Now, with Silverstone back in the designer saddle and Heckerling on board, fans are hopeful this new take will honor the original’s legacy while giving us even more quotable moments.

So grab your Alaïa and get ready—Cher Horowitz is back, and she’s still totally buggin’.
