Megan Thee Stallion Sneaks Phone Into the Met Gala, Reviews the Menu: “I’m Not Supposed to Have This”

Megan Thee Stallion broke the cardinal rule of the Met Gala — and brought us all along for the ride.

Despite Vogue editor-in-chief Anna Wintour’s famously strict no-phones policy, the rapper snuck her device into the exclusive soirée, giving fans a rare, behind-the-scenes glimpse inside fashion’s most elite night. Her impromptu “Hottie Cam” footage featured fellow guests Doechii and WNBA star Angel Reese as they taste-tested the event’s extravagant menu — from cornbread and caviar to vegan lox, curry chicken bites, and white truffle lobster rolls.

Some bites were hits, others earned side-eye. Megan found the vegan lox “funny looking,” but seemed pleased overall with the culinary offerings.

“We’re not supposed to have our phones,” she laughed in one clip. A gleefully scandalized Tracee Ellis Ross replied, “Not at all. Put your phone away!”

But Megan kept the footage rolling anyway. “I snuck the phone inside,” she confessed again in another video, grinning as she whispered, “I’m not supposed to have this.”

Her Hottie Cam also caught candid moments with Lupita Nyong’o, Angela Bassett, and more stars enjoying the lavish evening inside the Metropolitan Museum of Art.

This year’s Met Gala celebrated the Costume Institute’s latest exhibit, Superfine: Tailoring Black Style, inspired by Monica L. Miller’s 2009 book Slaves to Fashion: Black Dandyism and the Styling of Black Diasporic Identity. The dress code, Tailored For You, honored bespoke design rooted in Black cultural expression.

Megan made her own fashion statement in a shimmering silver Michael Kors gown and a dramatic white fur coat. She joined an A-list crowd including Zendaya, Diana Ross, Rihanna, Colman Domingo, and even former Vice President Kamala Harris. Wintour’s co-chairs for the evening included Domingo, Lewis Hamilton, A$AP Rocky, and Pharrell Williams.

As for the phone ban, Wintour explained last year on Today that it’s about presence. “It’s often wonderful to hear, after dinner, people say, ‘Oh, we had the most wonderful conversations.’ So that’s the idea — that life can exist without a picture on your cell phone.”

Still, not even Wintour’s rules could stop Hot Girl Meg from giving fans a taste — literally and figuratively — of the year’s most exclusive party.
